Favorite Class: My favorite class so far is Foundations of Nursing Practice. I found the class very interesting, especially when learning how to prioritize patient care based on each patient’s state. The professor, Dr. de la Victoria, was also an amazing professor to learn from. I definitely learned a lot and built on my critical thinking skills.

Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus is the library. This is because they have amazing study rooms at our disposal, and it is a place where my friends and I go all the time.

Clubs/Organizations: Nursing Student Organization: I am currently the co-president of NSO and oversee everything the club does and provide for fellow nursing students. Last year, I was the co-community chair and organized events such as our Bone Marrow Drive.

Spanish Club: I am currently the secretary of this club and take down the meeting minutes while also keeping the student body updated about events through email. Last year, I was a representative for this club by telling my fellow classmates and peers about anything we were doing.

First to mARCH (First Generation Students Club): I am currently the publicist for this club, keeping up with our social media page so students can see what we’re all about.

Global Roadrunner: In this position. I aid students who are interested in studying abroad with the entire process of applying and getting ready to travel.

Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society: Last year I was the Social Fundraising & Community Service Chair.

Tri-Alpha Honor Society (for first-gen students)

Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish) National Honor Society

National Society of Leadership and Success

I am currently the Junior Nursing Class Representative. That means I attend the faculty meetings every month and provide any concerns the junior class may have. I am also able to observe how these meetings are conducted and what each faculty member is in charge of.

Future Plans: Over the summer, I will be working at Holy Name Medical Center as a Nurse Extern in their pediatric unit. Then, after my final year at Ramapo, I plan to graduate with my BSN and begin working as a pediatric nurse. I then want to specialize in pediatric oncology. After years of experience as a nurse, I want to go back to school for my MSN and DNP so I can become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Working with kids has always been my passion, and I would love to continue on that path.

Favorite Inspirational Quote: “If you aren’t willing to keep looking for light in the darkest of places without stopping, even when it seems impossible, you will never succeed.” – Amelia Shepherd, Grey’s Anatomy, Season 11 Episode 11.

Advice for First-Year Students: A piece of advice I would give is not to be afraid to get involved. There are so many resources at your disposal on this campus, and you get to meet so many new people that way. Do not let fear stop you!
