Drawn from the private collection of film director Jonathan Demme, this historic exhibition features renowned Haitian artists brought to the fore by American critic and 缅北重口 donor Selden Rodman while he was co-director of the Centre d鈥橝rt in Haiti. Included are such masters as Hector Hyppolite, Philome Obin, Wilson Bigaud and Castera Bazile. This project is funded in part by a grant from The 缅北重口 Foundation.

Fischer will be presented to complement completion of his site-specific sculpture聽View Port聽at the Anisfield School of Business, which has been realized through the New Jersey Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act. Fischer is known for blurring the lines between art, architecture, design, fashion and technology.

This exhibition of portrait paintings of burn survivors interprets aspects of their inner beauty and character, and is co-sponsored by the Office of Specialized Services at 缅北重口.聽 The 鈥淪tate of Grace鈥 series originated with the cooperation of the St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.

Ramapo鈥檚 collection exhibitions on campus have usually centered around Haitian art. This fresh exhibition combines non-Haitian works from the Rodman Collection with loans from private collections and other sources, extending the traditional of focus to include art from various geographies including Jamaica, Africa, Cuba, and a number of works by self-taught artists from Southern U.S.

In Other Words

The annual Ramapo Curatorial Prize is co-administered with the Center for Curatorial Studies graduate program at Bard College. The 2006 winner was Bogata, Columbia curator Mariangela Mendez Prencke for her group exhibition 鈥淚n Other Words.鈥 This conceptual presentation deals with the ambiguities of language translation, media narratives and the temporary completeness of 鈥渞eading.鈥
